The bait stations were filled with a bait called Vespex. Vespex specifically targets the Vespula wasp species. The wasps collect the bait from the bait station and carry it back to their nests, sharing it with colony members, quickly destroying the whole colony. The bait is not attractive to bees and is very low risk to birds, pets, and people.
