At assembly on Friday 6th May, we were excited to announce the criteria for a new set of awards: The Academic Service, Blue and Bar Awards.

The criteria to meet these awards are as follows and have also been added to the student handbook.

Criteria for Dunstan High School Academic: Service/Blues/Bars

Rationale

The Academic Service/Blue/Bar awards are awarded at a formal school assembly in Term 4. The awards recognise a pupil's Academic Achievement and Improvement, Service to Academic activities and Academic leadership at Dunstan High School. 

Criteria for Dunstan High School Academic Service Award

Every person nominated for an Academic Service Award must have been involved in some of the following on a regular basis for at least 2 years:

  • Some aspect of tutoring for students whether that be private lessons, study group, peer tutoring or during snack ‘n’ study

  • Assisted in running academic-related activities such as quizzes and challenges 

  • Attended and contributed regularly at academic committee meetings

  • Been involved in some form of academic extracurricular activity such as debating, Australian Maths Competition

Criteria for Dunstan High School  Academic Leadership Blues Award

Every person nominated for an Academic Leadership Blues Award must have been involved in a leadership capacity for at least 2 years based upon some of the following criteria:

  • Representing the school at academic-related events such as CSC exchange, Model UN, regional quizzes

  • Taking up a leadership role within the academic area

  • Displayed leadership in a classroom setting with their peers

Criteria for Dunstan High School Academic Achievement and/or Improvement Bar Award

Every person nominated for an academic Achievement and/or Improvement Bar Award must have for at least 2 years based upon some of the following criteria:

  • Shown significant and or accelerated improvement on previous years grades

  • Achieved M/E endorsed over 2 years

  • The 100 Excellence Credit Club

Nominations for awards will come from staff and/or students at Dunstan High School. An holistic judgement on whether students have met the criteria will be used in consultation with a member of the Senior Leadership Team and Heads of Faculties. The leaders of the Academic committee may be consulted 

Please note: Merit and Excellence badges will still be awarded at the beginning of each year.
