Tom had to go through a number of selection races in both Kawerau and at the Wero White Water Park in Auckland to qualify. 

His dedication to training and competing in white water events in Queenstown set him up well for competitions. Tom also raced in the extreme slalom, making the final in the NZ Open. A big congratulations and good luck for the world championships.
