DUNSTAN NEWS
IYM seeks to encourage diversity in New Zealand’s science and technology industry by inspiring a new generation of innovators and industry leaders.
In 2025, IYM is offering two programmes for young women:
IYM Online - 2025: 14- 17 April 2025
Participants attend four half-day sessions delivered entirely online via Zoom. Places are limited to 100 and there is a small participation fee of $30.
IYM Residential 2025: 29 June - 4 July 2025
Participants attend a six-day residential programme based in Lower Hutt, Wellington. The programme is limited to 40 places and participants only pay $170 to attend.
On both programmes, participants will be exposed to inspiring interactive career panels, research and innovation showcases, tours of labs and tech workspaces, hands-on digital technology sessions, and team-building and networking sessions. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet women working in science and technology and make friends with like-minded young women. Applications close for both programmes on 1 March 2025.
IYM are looking for students who show potential in STEMM subjects, not necessarily those who have performed at the top of their class in the past. They want to inspire students that have not had exposure to STEMM subjects previously or who need to build their confidence to pursue these subjects further. Thanks to the generosity of their sponsors, there is only a small participation fee for participants. Full scholarships are available to those in financial hardship.
