DUNSTAN NEWS
Basketball: Senior A Boys and Senior Girls basketball teams finished their seasons in 2nd place in the Central Otago Secondary school competition. The Senior B boys finished the B grade in 3rd place. We have 3 teams in the junior competition which is still going so best of luck to them for the remaining games of the season.
Football: Our boys and girls teams played in the Central Otago Secondary Schools competition. This is the second year of this competition and it has been great that we can participate in a competition as a school team. Our girls lost their 3rd/4th place game 3-2 to Cromwell and our boys finished 3rd after beating Cromwell 1-0.
Hockey: We had 6 teams in the Central Otago Hockey Association competition this year. Our boys Black team won the boys competition with our stripes team coming 3rd. The Red girls team won the girls division with our young gold team placing 3rd. In the mixed division our 1st XI lost the final in a penalty shoot out. Our 2nd XI finished 4th.
Netball: Our netball club had 10 teams in the local Central Otago competition. Senior A won the A grade, our Senior B won the A2 grade, B1 was won by 9A grade, and B2 was won by Senior Reserve grade, Senior Red won the C2 grade so a very successful season for the club. Meg King, Ellie King and Charlotte Abercrombie were awarded the aspiring umpire awards.
Rugby: We had 4 teams travelling Otago wide over the season. While results were varied we had the 1st XV and the Senior teams battling out finals but unfortunately both came out on the wrong side of the ledger. A special congratulations to the 1st XV in their promotion into the top 6 competition for 2025.
Our Clay Target team still has two competitions and the South Island Championships before their season is completed.
The Sports Department would like to thank all of the coaches and managers for the endless hours they have put into developing our students in their respective sports. We would also like to thank the parents by providing support and encouragement to the teams from, at times, the very chilly sidelines.
Our attention now turns to our teams as they head away to their tournaments over Winter Tournament Week. Best of luck to the Senior A Netball, 1st XI Boys Hockey, 1st XI Girls Hockey, Ice Hockey, Girls Football, 1st XI Boys Football team and U15 Rugby teams. We will keep everyone updated on their results!
