DHS Local Gos (Gems of Sport)
The last four weeks of Term 2 at lunch time students entered into the sporting world of some of our elite local sports stars for our Gems of Sport (GOS) series.

First to share his incredible experiences and story was Ben Robson, a former NZ road racing cycling champ and professional enduro biking. Followed by Maddy Campbell who played for NZ Volleyball and competed in the American university league, showcasing her middle blocking skills. Both Ben and Maddy have been a part of the team here at DHS. Stacey Rutherford was our next sports star. A former Southern Steel and Celtic Dragon netball player. Finishing off the term we had Jayden Spence a former Otago Rugby and Highlanders player. Each week we had a good number of students showing up to have a taste of what it would be like competing at the elite level these sports stars did. Some great questions were asked and answered. It’s extremely beneficial for the students to meet like minded athletes and can help kick start the students starting to think about taking that next step within their sport
