Dunstanza presented three songs: Ōtakou e, a traditional waiata; Time by Jennifer Lucy Cook; and Don't Cry by Axl Rose and Izzy Stradin. We were honoured to be awarded the Dunedin College of Education - Best Performance of a New Zealand Composition Cup, an award that we have never before received.
Our Dunstan Girls were back again this year after a hiatus, brought about by the effects of COVID, and created a stir with their amazing vocal work. If you haven't listened to them on the school Facebook page, you definitely should! The girls performed their set: Deo Gracias from A Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten; What was I Made For? by Billie Eilish, arr. Bronwyn Barnes; and I Am, by Stan Walker, Michael Fatkin, Vince Harder and Te Kanapu Anasta.
It was also a great honour to witness our very own Carole Randall receive Life Membership in recognition for over 25 years of service to the choral services and the New Zealand Choral Federation. Congratulations, Carole, we are incredibly proud!
Many thanks go to the whānau of our students for providing baking and meals to sustain us and to Dan Beck, Bronwyn Barnes, Libby Hamilton, and Nick Meissel for their support and guidance.
There will be an opportunity to hear both choirs in the coming weeks - watch this space!!
