This year saw a change of venue to the SISS Canoe Polo Tournament so instead of the annual trek to Oamaru to play at the indoor pool, our team of 22 paddlers headed to Lake Roto Kohatu, Christchurch to play outdoors and to show the rest of the South Island how it’s done

Dunstan played 39 games over the two days and the improvement in our game grew exponentially.     Whilst a couple of changes to the rules of the game proved a little challenging for our players, Dunstan’s five teams showcased great grit, heart, skill and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.  There was no better example of this than our Senior Boys A team going into extra time in a thrilling (and heart stopping) gold medal match.

Congratulations to our three paddlers who made the tournament teams:   Paige Adams, Ethan Finlay and Kodi Knights.  This is a great achievement.

Thanks to everyone who helped support the team and a massive thank you to Ian Knights for being the parent in charge and for coaching all the teams.   I’m sure it felt like herding cats at times, especially when three teams were playing at once!
