At the end of 2023 Paige received news that she had been selected to trial for the NZU15 Girls Basketball Team. Basketball NZ were running three trials around NZ to select a squad of players to compete in the Oceania Basketball Champs and then the Asian Champs later in 2024. Paige was nominated by Otago Basketball after playing for the Otago U15 Team last season, her first season of competitive basketball.

Paige travelled to Christchurch over Waitangi weekend to attend the one day trial. 40 girls were present and they were put through their paces. The aim of the trials was to assess player skill and ‘Basketball IQ’ (ability to read and play structured basketball) through game based learning and competitive games.

It was a valuable learning experience for Paige that will hopefully set her up well for her season ahead, including her U16 Otago trials in mid March. Paige is currently waiting to find out who has been selected in the squad. We wish her the best of luck.
