DUNSTAN NEWS
This has involved spending Wednesdays on flooring jobs all around the Otago region. I have learnt so much in this time from how to use tools, to laying carpet and vinyls, to the precision required to cut and install carpet and vinyls. I have really enjoyed the practical hands-on learning and the physical nature of the work. I love working with the team and learning new skills every day. I now know that I really want to gain an apprenticeship in carpet laying when I leave school at the end of the year. I would really like to thank Bevan for the time and effort they have put into teaching me over my work placement. They have been really supportive and are really good teachers. The highlight for me of the Work Placement to date is when I learnt how to lay carpet vinyls and the satisfaction of this. My Gateway Work Placement has been incredibly valuable and rewarding for me. It has allowed me to experience flooring first hand and ensure it is the right job for me to move into.
